Mr. Fries had a fairly simple idea in his mind already, which made this project real easy on us! Simply, he wanted a functional area to store some outdoor tools and accessories and also to have a nice patio area to put a fire pit he had bought on top of with some seating around it for those perfect bonfire nights. The pavers he had already put down around the AC unit were still in decent shape so we reused those. To make sure that the area towards the basement did not get flooded, we installed a small retaining/seating wall with steps to remove the hillside leading to this area, and put drainage behind the wall to help alleviate any water runoff towards the basement door. From that area, we decided to remove the uneven concrete walkway with the pavers you see, tying the walkway from the basement to the deck stairs all into one cohesive material. We then established the fire pit patio area with Mr. Fries which the location was perfect for him while being sure that no fire codes were being broken as well. You will see below a short walkthrough video first, then the before and after pictures below that. The tight access certainly taught us some things on this project, but we could not be happier with how it turned out!
