The Bruner project was certainly one of our favorites that we have done so far. To begin our estimate walk, we established that almost every tree had been left to grow for far too long, allowing them to become too big for their space. All the trees had been cut down by a licensed tree company outside of our presence and before we began truly working on the end goal for Mrs. Bruner. Once the trees had been removed, we began planning on giving her and her husband spaces that they could enjoy. The front entrance of the house wasn’t as much of a concern for them other than for it to have curb appeal and look nice for the neighbors walking by. They wanted the side yard, once filled with trees, to be a fenced in area to allow their dogs to roam freely. The backyard was to be simplistic with privacy, somewhere where they could step outside and just relax. The last part of their concern was the large hillside along the sidewalk. They didn’t want to maintain it with any turf area, but also didn’t want to break the bank by building a wall to level the area either.
We came up with the design you see below, allowing plants to thrive in their spaces as well as capturing everything they had mentioned on their wish list. Being located in the city does have its challenges when designing, but that does not mean impossible!
